HOLIDAY GREETINGS FROM
ASHLAND
OREGON!

Merry Christmas
and a
Happy New Year!
December 2004
Dear Friends and Family,
Another year has passed; they seem to go more and more quickly (Cliche holiday letter opening, yes. Cliches often arise of truth, though). So, here comes the update on family members. That is what comes next in the holiday letter. Thing is, I enjoy getting them, and getting updated on our friends and families. Yes, it underscores the fact that we are just all too busy. I wish we were able to keep in better touch; I care about all of you. Keep those updates coming!
Elijah: is almost two (years and feet), is charming, adorable, tireless, and a handful for the rest of the family. He speaks in short sentences, like, "Mommy, carry, upstairs, yeah." He is very excited about Christmas this year, loves the tree, ("Tree, lights, tree, lights.") and "baby oranges" (tangerines).
Jeshua: is eight (years, not feet) going on fifteen. He is early, I think, in displaying adolescent attitudes, which provides Arlee and me with another handful. He is still doing well in the same "blended" grade 1-5 classroom; the "Blenders," as we are called, includes students and their families, and we enjoy camping trips and the like together. Jeshua is an avid soccer player and an active cub scout.
Arlee: is enjoying being a full-time mom, and has nearly completed a young adult novel. We hope to see it published (I think it is very good!), but mostly Arlee is just pleased to have had the chance to write--it has been a long-time aspiration. She loves living in Ashland.
Patrick: I have completed my Masters' in Educational Administration and am looking for the perfect (principal or vice-principal) job. In the meantime, I am directing the band and choirs at Rogue River High School, about 40 miles north, and am enjoying working with a fine group of students there. I am proud of their progress these past two years.
