In Manila:

Jess will celebrate his fourth birthday this year. Just like mom warned me, time sure does go quick. They grow up in no time, don't they!

He is thriving in his new pre-school program; it is activity based, and he is learning tumbling, and the balance beam. Outside of school, he loves his Disney videos, and Barney. He shows a lot of interest in music, to his Dad's delight, and plays Hot Cross Buns on the piano (using the "three black friends", F#, G# and A#). His skating is progressing nicely as well.

Oct, 2000:

We are settled in to our new home in Green Valley, Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Jess has a FANTASTIC preschool here, and lots of neighbor friends to play with.

He has a brand new bike to go with daddy's new Toyota Landcruiser (we got them on the same weekend). He likes wearing his helmet and riding by himself up and down the street in front of the house. Don't tell Jess, but dad keeps raising the training wheels little by little.

Jesse's favorite birthday present (and his dad's favorite, too) was his Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger. Below: Jeshua's first day on his new bike (a late birthday present--we didn't see how to pack it into a suitcase, but wanted it in Saudi Arabia, not Oregon). Jess loves his bike and the independence it affords.
